Azamara Pursuit To Undergo Refit At Historic Belfast Shipyard

Boutique cruise line Azamara Club Cruises announced today that its new ship, Azamara Pursuit, will undergo its transformation to be almost identical to sister ships Azamara Quest and Azamara Journey.  Azamara Pursuit will be refitted in the U.K. as it prepares to go into wet dock in Belfast in Spring 2018. The ship’s maiden voyage will begin in Southampton, England in August and visit eight destinations throughout Norway as part of its Destination Immersion® country-intensive series.

The refit will take place at the iconic Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Ireland and be completed by one of the world’s top outfitting specialist MJM Group. Work will begin in Spring 2018 and will be completed by the end of July.

The maiden voyage will depart Southampton on August 1, 2018 and travel to eight Norwegian destinations, including Kristiansand, Flam and Haugesund, with overnight stays in Oslo and Bergen. Azamara Pursuit’s sister ship, Azamara Journey, will also be dock in Haugesund on the same day, marking their first meeting. Azamara Pursuit will then depart Southampton for an Iceland-intensive voyage on 13 August 2018, before a special christening voyage on 28 August 2018. The ship will then depart Southampton once more on 30 August 2018 for its 13 Night Wine & Romance Voyage.

2018/19 Sailings For Azamara Pursuit Announced

Azamara Club Cruises today revealed its 2018-19 sailings for the brand’s newest addition, Azamara Pursuit.

Azamara Pursuit will increase the brand’s destination offerings by 40% and will add 61 more destinations. Guests will also stay longer and experience more with 48 late nights and 26 overnights. Guests will get to experience some of the most unique destinations worldwide, including 15 maiden calls:

South America Featured Experiences

Travelers sailing through South America will dock in marquee destinations such as Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, while also traversing through scenic channels such as the Fjords of Chile and Ushuaia, Argentina, the furthest south deep-water port.  Guests can also expect holiday stops in Rio de Janeiro for New Year’s Eve 2018 and for Carnaval in 2019. Casa de Aliaga (Lima, Peru): Guests will explore and embrace Peru when they dine in the oldest inhabited house in all of the Americas. This manor was built in 1536 during the Spanish conquest expedition of Peru. Your 17th generation family member and host will share this rich history of her family’s manor and the experiences of living there since she was seven.

A Culinary Experience in Bohemian Barranco (Lima, Peru): As one of the world’s top culinary destinations, guests will join a local foodie in Bohemian Barranco for a truly local experience. Europe Featured Experiences

Inside the Volcano (Reykjavik,Iceland): Take an elevator into the magma chamber of dormant volcano, Thrihnukagigur – once filled with hot lava. The Three Peaks Crater erupted 4,000 years ago and is truly a unique natural phenomenon.

Cruise Global Stay Local – (Akureyri, Iceland to Seydisfjordur, Iceland): In a 2days/1 night excursion, guests can enjoy spectacular views of the Godafoss waterfall (the “Waterfall of the Gods”). See the natural wonders of Lake Mývatn including Skútustaðir craters, Dimmuborgir lava labyrinth and Námaskarð thermal field before ending the day in total relaxation at Mývatn Nature Baths health spa. Float in the bubbling warm lagoon or relax with a natural sulfur-free steam bath as you experience true calm. On day two, guests will also travel alongside Jökulsárgljúfur Glacial canyon to Seyðisfjörður, to see the most powerful waterfalls in Europe. Passing Húsavík village, they’ll visit Hljóðaklettar and their echoing cliffs known for basalt columns. This place is known to be the meeting place of the pagan Gods. The last stop on this one-night excursion will be at Dettifoss waterfall, the biggest waterfall in Iceland and believed to be the most powerful waterfall in Europe.

Greece Day Tour (Nauplion, Greece): Guests will visit the Monastery of St. John (Prodromos), built on the side of a rock face around 1167. They’ll enjoy a spectacular Greek lunch at a wealthy Arcadian mansion of the 1840’s, where guests will meet with the hotel owners.

Followed by a complimentary AzAmazing Evening in Rhodes, Greece where they’ll spend the evening at Tafros Theater seeing an exclusive performance of the ancient Greek drama, Antigone by Sophocles (in English).

Azamara Pursuit is comparable in size to the Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest, allowing guests access to unique ports that larger ships are unable to reach. Together, the three ships will now offer guests the opportunity to visit 7 continents and 217 ports from August 28, 2018 to April 5, 2019.

Cunard Completes $40 Million Refurb of Queen Victoria

Cunard’s Queen Victoria made her return to Southampton yesterday, showing off an array of new features following an extensive $40 million refurbishment. First-look photography was released today.

Exquisite interior design takes center stage in the new Britannia Club Restaurant and continues within the 43 new Britannia Club staterooms. Further enhancements on board include refined and redesigned Grand and Penthouse Suites, as well as a new sun deck and an enhanced Winter Garden.  Every stateroom has been refreshed, including the installation of large flat screen TVs and much requested tea and coffee brewing set ups.

AFT LIDO SUN DECK: This lounge space has been extended to provide guests with additional deck space and access to the rays from sunrise to sunset. Windbreakers and additional sun loungers and luxury cabanas have also been introduced to accommodate sunseekers on board, while the shaded area has been extended for those looking to dine al fresco. Full beverage service is also available throughout the day and into the evening to enjoy alongside live entertainment.

WINTER GARDEN: A beautiful room for relaxation located in the heart of deck 9. Guests can sip their favorite beverage on the elegant lounge furniture while looking out through the floor to ceiling windows at the view. In addition, the comfort and décor has been further refined, with a statement floor and glass canopy.

BRITANNIA CLUB STATEROOMS: In a prime mid-ship location on decks 7 and 8, all staterooms have been upgraded and refreshed with newly-designed carpets featuring a contemporary geometric design as well as the addition of new soft furnishings. New flat screen TVs and, by popular request, tea and coffee making facilities, have also been added to upgrade the stateroom experience even further. The additional 43 balcony staterooms will be further enhanced with premium balconies and a nine-pillow concierge menu to ensure maximum comfort for guests on board.

BRITANNIA CLUB DINING: The new Britannia Club restaurant has gone through a full interior re-design and will offer guests the flexibility to dine whenever they choose. Located in the space of the former Chart Room, the new restaurant resides alongside the main Britannia restaurant on Deck 2.

PENTHOUSE SUITES: Five of Queen Victoria’s elegant Penthouse Suites have been completely redesigned to maximize space and luxury, and raise the quality of guests’ experience even further. The new suites feature floor to ceiling windows and doors, private balcony with stunning sea views, additional storage space and beautiful bathrooms with luxurious whirlpool baths. With butlers and concierge on hand to take care of every need, the luxurious suites are among the finest accommodation available at sea.

GRAND SUITES: The Aquitania, Berengaria, Mauretania and Laconia Suites have been redesigned to maximize space, with similar square footage to those on Queen Elizabeth at approximately 1,436 sq.ft. Mirroring a luxurious residential apartment, refreshed designs include floor-to-ceiling windows and doors, a separate snug room with TV, beautiful lounge, master bathroom with sea views and dual aspect balcony, as well as a second bathroom and walk-in wardrobe, providing guests with supreme luxury and comfort whilst on board.

CHART ROOM: A new concept introduced as part of the Queen Victoria refit, the Chart Room is located just off the Grand Lobby and will provide guests with illy coffee, Godiva chocolate treats and light bites by day, before transforming into a cocktail lounge by night.

Cuban Officials and Azamara Executives Celebrate Historical Event with a Keys & Plaques Ceremony

 

Azamara Quest arrived at Cuba’s Sierra Maestra terminal for the first time today.  The ship sailed down the Bahía de la Habana alongside Havana’s famous El Malecón providing guests magnificent views of the local shoreline before turning alongside Cuba’s Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro through the Canal de Entrada to dock.

Vice President of Business Development, Global Government and Community Relations, Jorge Delgado joined Captain Angel Albertini, Chief of Havana Cruise Terminal and a contingent of Cuban Dignitaries to toast the arrival of Azamara Quest, and this important moment in the brand’s history, during a Keys & Plaques ceremony.

Azamara created a variety of unique people-to-people land programs, by night and by day, to enable guests a fully immersed experience in the destination and have the opportunity to connect with the great culture and people of Cuba.  Azamara is able to do this because of our overnight stay in Havana.  All tour programs offered by Azamara are designed to meet United States’ requirements for travel to Cuba.  Highlights include:

Azamara Club Cruises Announces 2019 Voyages

Azamara Club Cruises today unveiled its 2019 itineraries to 250 ports of call, including 45 maiden ports, 69 countries, 94 overnight stays, and 145 late night stays. New offerings include Azamara’s first-ever sailings to Alaska, 9 Special Events Voyages and 9 Country Intensive Voyages.

North To Alaska!

Azamara is offering a variety of Alaska experiences with 11 cruises, from 8 to 10 days in length, between May and September of 2019.  The line’s new Alaska voyages will feature many late night stays.  Complimentary “AzAmazing Evenings” will feature local experiences, and curated optional shore excursions in small groups of 20 – 25 guests.
